Aliens. Capture, enslave, impregnate, experimentation or just use you as a plain old food source. You just don't know what they might be up to, but that is why they are called aliens! If the alien has more sharp pointy things than you, then running away is a good idea. Its a basic one, but people always forget it. You'd have thought that no natural defences loses to a genetically perfect killing machine every time, but you try telling that to the sort of mindless jarheads you find crewing starships these days.
